Christmas 2010

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, the Twitchell kids were regaling each other with tales of Christmas's past. The story of Christ's birth was enjoyed by all.Then it was time, to the delight of each child, to open a gift, one for all.

All too soon it was time for goodnight, and all the children were tucked in tight! While visions of gifts to open, danced in their dreams, Santa Claus set out to do his work for the eve.
Christmas morning arrived all too soon,with Shayla and Jaden chattering excitedly to Mom and Dad around 5 am. By 8am Mom and Dad could stall no more, and off the children ran to open their stockings , one and all.

As the children continued their stocking inspection, Mom went to work making a delicious Christmas breakfast feast. Then at last, opening present time arrived! The Children raced into the room tearing off paper and bows and cheered in excitement as each gift was unveiled!

They played and played while mom and Dad wrestled with opening all the various plastic packaging. After a while, it was time to go,off to "Grandma and Grandpa" Taylor's for more! More gifts, more feasts and family with to play, twas a time of rejoicing and memories made!

Once again December is here and it is time to write our annual family newsletter for the Year! What a busy year it has been with the Twitchell's as we just found out in the end of October that we would be relocating to Tacoma again! We just sold our house last week after it was on the market for eight days and we got five offers! We'll be closing on our house in January of 2010.

Andrew is such a happy go lucky boy who is a magnet for markers! He especially enjoys coloring on the freshly painted walls much to his parents dismay! He turned 2 this year and loves playing any kind of sports! He was really upset that Jaden got to play T-ball and he couldn't go out and play with him on the field. He currently loves playing with cars, trains and reading books!

Jaden had a lot of fun playing ponyball this year! He especially liked getting tickets for a treat after the games. Batting the ball was his favorite part! He also had lots of fun with his cousin Evan at Six Flaggs and the State Fair. Evan got him to go on rides that we never thought he'd go on! He is very good at math and can't wait for baseball to startup again!

Shayla has been a busy girl this year! She was elected to her student council, ran cross country and was on the honor roll. She loves to read, cook, play the piano and has begun to crochet! She also started playing the violin and piano this year. She loves crocheting scarfs for everyone!

Meagan has also had a busy year! She was a WEB and Leadership Representative at her school, and was in CJSF. She also has great grades, a 3.71 GPA. She has also read many books, her current read is Gone With the Wind. She is in a disbelief of how a girl could be sooo vain, it annoys the heck out of Meagan. She has also made great friends and is grateful for them. She enjoys writing and has written several short stories.

Tami has had a busy year filled with teaching piano lessons, teaching social skills through music in Jaden's structured class, carpooling the children to all events, scanning in over 700 pages of genealogy, and enjoying her church calling as the education counselor. She was sad to be released but grateful to have the extra time to prepare her family for moving back to Washington.

Larry enjoyed another year of being employed and being with the family since the travel time has gone down. Big year for football as a Steeler fan!!! Tami got him with a surprise “funeral party” when he hit the big 40 this year.....Yeeeeaaahhhh!!! He sold his old cars to pay for renovations on the rental properties, so someday he will be looking the fill the void. Larry has enjoyed being a ward missionary and working with the missionaries. He did research on his family history this year and found out that one of his direct ancestors, Benjamin Hawkins, was in the Mormon Battalion and discovered gold near Folsom Lake, which is not far from where we live.

Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving this year, we went to Kelly and Linda Taylors for a scrumptious feast! Mike and all of his kids except Jack was there along with Patrick, Stacy and all of us Twitchell's. Poor Jack had just gotten out of the hospital recovering from who knows what. Apparently something got his blood sugars out of whack but it isn't diabetes.
Andrew was just a cutie patootie and enjoyed sitting at the table instead of the high chair! It was a great day to be with family !

Happy Halloween

Andrew was a cute doggie for Halloween! He had fun at the trunk or treat espcially eating all the yummy doughnuts and climbing up and down the stairs. The next night he went trick or treating around the neighborhood and fell asleep in the wagon. All that candy collecting was exhausting work!
Meagan was Abbey Sciuto from NCIS. We had fun dying her hair black and dressing her up!
Shayla decided to be a lady in waiting. but she also had magical powers!
Jaden at first wanted to be a police officer and then changed his mind and had to be a ghost. At least I had an old white sheet with holes!

Larry's Over the Hill Party!

Larry Hit the big 40 this year and Tami got him with a surprise over the hill party! We had yummy Ham with Funeral potatoes , salad and rolls! John Taylor was an honorary pallbearer and brought the Cake to the table so we could sing Happy Birthday and bid adieu to Larry's Youth!

Shayla and Jaden had fun helping me decorate the house, while Meagan was on a mission--taking Daddy out on a Daddy /daughter movie date so we could prep the house! Mission Accomplished!

For Meagan's Birthday she enjoyed her annual "Better Than Anything" Cake and making Haunted Houses out of gingerbread and candy!

Here's Meagan and her friends making the houses. The girls had lots of creativity with them. Regan even made a cool abstract one. The neat thing because they were supposed to be "haunted houses", the girls had fun making the roofs and sides crooked etc. They even stuffed the houses full of marshmellow ghosts and candy worms etc.

Afterwards they had fun opening presents and just hanging out!

Shayla's Joined Cross Country Team

Shayla joined the cross country team at Rock Creek and competed for the 4th grade girls team. Here are some photos and videos of her events.

Shayla has really enjoyed running and hopes to someday get a medal. She also is busy with being on her School Student council, violin lessons and piano.

Gold Rush Days

Where has the time gone? I have been finding myself so busy between taking care of kids, teaching piano, doing geneology, and working in the RS presidency for our ward. I'm giving up catching up on the past and thought I'd start with our most recent family outing.
Over labor day weekend, we celebrated gold rush days here in Sacramento. The city poured tons of dirt on the streets and everyone dressed up like in the old days.

Here's Shayla and Jaden panning for Gold. They were so excited to receive they're gold certificate, thinking they could buy lots of things in the store until they found out that they could only buy a dollar's worth.

Twitchell Family Newsletter 2008

Wow! I can't believe Christmas is almost here! This year seemed to zoom by! We had a wonderful family trip to Disneyland this year. The first time ever! The Gifford's were there too! After five days we were exhausted yet Jaden kept wanting to go back and go on Star Tours!

Andrew our youngest, is a wonderful delight! He keeps mom so busy!! He's active and loves getting into everything! He loves to golf (which consists of using a plastic bowling pin as a club and hitting the golf ball ) He also loves balls of all kinds! He enjoys kicking the ball, throwing the ball and playing catch! He has such a cute smile and laugh! And of course, he loves chasing and playing with Jaden and Shayla.

Jaden is enjoying going to a new school and is in 1st grade. He is at the top of his class in math. His teacher says he gets done quick and keeps telling the other kids to hurry up so they can correct the problems. He is big into golf! He love Tiger Woods' 09 on the xbox. He also enjoys playing baseball and is excited to play pony ball little league this spring! And like all brothers, he enjoys torturing Andrew.

Shayla is in 3rd grade this year. Her teacher says she's and excellent student and enjoys her in class. Shayla has also been involved with brownie girl scouts, activity days and a Sing and Dance group. She does 2 big performances one tomorrow and another in June! She enjoys reading, cooking and lately is big into weaving potholders,knitting and cross-stitching. She was also baptized this June by her Daddy.

Meagan is enjoying junior high. She's made some new friends and had a fun birthday sleepover party! She still loves reading and has been big into the Twilight series and movie. She loves writing to and posts her work on some of the Twilight fan fiction sites.

Tami is very busy being a mom on the go! With the kids at 3 different schools across town she does lots of carpooling and chauffeuring kids to activities and school. This year with Joanne Taylor, she made around 40 pounds of chocolates this holiday season. She still enjoys scrap booking and card making whenever she gets a chance and is busy teaching Jaden's primary class of 8 boys and 2 girls!

Larry is staying with Chrysler and opted not to take the buy out package. He has performed well and hopes to continue to move up in his career. He loves playing xbox with Jaden and spending time with our family whenever he can. He is also busy as the Ward Missionary assigned to the Elder's Quorum.

We wish each and everyone of our friends and family members a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

As of Today, Jan.4 ,2009, Tami received quite the shock as she was called to be the 1st Counselor in the Rocklin 3 ward Relief Society Presidency. Especially since she only was able to go to RS once, because she was called again to Primary when the ward boundaries changed. She's excited to go back to Relief Society once again!

For New Year's Eve, we (The Twitchell's) celebrated with Grandpa Luker and John Taylor and his family. We had a lot of fun!

Evan had a lot of fun with Jaden's new remote control Firetruck! He kept wanting to squirt everyone with the fire hose and kept moving the ladder up, down, and all around!

Kelly brought Prince Caspian for all of us to watch! We really enjoyed it except Shayla and Jaden fell asleep!

During the holidays, we went to Johnny's Incredible Pizza where Shayla injured her fingers bowling. She tried really hard to stay awake but succumbed to sleep.

Jaden didn't make it to New Year's either but fell fast asleep around 9pm. After the movie we had snacks and got ready for silly string fights and celebrating.

Oakland Temple

On December 27th, the Twitchell family and Grandpa Luker drove to Oakland California to see the visitor center and the lights.

After 3 hours of driving (due to lots of Traffic) we arrived! We were excited to see Angela Johnson's special display of sculptures. This is one they had out that we were allowed to photograph.

Her work is so amazing! She came and told all the Sister Missionaries about each sculpture so they could share her and their testimony of each piece and of the Savior.
Sister Hui was the sister who took us for our tour. She was really cute and asked Shayla what language her name was in. Shayla said Chinese and was right. The sister asked her if she knew any Chinese and Shayla promptly did the polite bow and said hello to her in Chinese! Aren't kids tv shows great! That's where Shayla learned it from.

After the tour of the sculptures, we went outside to see all the lights. The kids had fun checking out all the lights and the Nativity!

Christmas 2008

December was a hectic and busy month in the Twitchell Household as Larry had to be in LA the last couple of weeks in November and all of December until Christmas. Boy oh Boy did we miss Daddy! Although Larry was gone an awful lot we still did some fun things like viewing the lights on Strand Road, going out for hot chocolate and doughnuts( the kids favorite I think) Making goodies and treats for all of our neighbors. Grandpa Luker even flew in from Utah for Christmas! We were so excited to have him visit because he hasn't been to our new house in California! Jaden was really excited for Christmas this year and his favorite present was the new Red Xbox controller that he got!

Shayla was excited to get her Bratz hair magic color set and promptly set up shop in the bathroom and opened her own salon and invited us all to get hair do's.

Andrew's favorite part was his new alphabet choo choo train and Diego ATV. He's really excited to have Jaden and Shayla back in school so they will stop playing with all his toys!

All in All we had a wonderful Christmas day! We were just so excited to have Grandpa here and Daddy home!

Mommy has been enjoying her new computer and hopes to be more consistent with her blog this year!

Winco Field Trip

On November 3, 2008, Jaden and all the first graders at Antelope Creek got to go on a field Trip to WINCO grocery store. Jaden was a little nervous but got excited when I told him we get to tour the bakery where they make doughnuts! He was interested after that!
He watched them decorate cupcakes and then got to eat a cookie. We toured the big freezer, the humongous trash compactor, the Meat department and got to see the machine stack all the huge crates of groceries. Then Winco sent them back to school with Pizza for Lunch!

Brownies in Roseville Holiday Parade

On Saturday, November 21, 2008, Shayla and her brownie Troop got to ride in The Fountains Train in the Roseville Holiday Parade! The girls had fun jingling jingle bells and waving high to all the people watching the parade. Shayla chose to dress as Rudolph.

Shayla has had fun with brownies and enjoys being in the Girl Scout Program.

In December, The girls had a Christmas party where they made decorations, yummy treats and held an ornaments exchange. Except Mommy forgot to bring the ornament and instead showed up with a mini muffin loaf filled with chocolates to exchange.

This year for Halloween, Shayla decided to be a witch and Jaden was the Emperor from Star Wars. They don't do trunk or treats here, so Dad took them out around the neighborhood this year.

Andrew was a sad little pumpkin until he figured out that he got treats! Suckers, YUM YUM! He was much happier and on quite the sugar high when they returned!

Meagan's Birthday Bash!

On Friday October 24th, Meagan celebrated her 13th Birthday by inviting her friends to a sleepover slumber party! They started with Pizza followed by the famous Better than Anything cake. They Karoked, watched movies and partied the night away!

Bishop's Pumpkin Farm

On Monday, October 6th, we went to the Bishops Pumpkin Farm for our Family Home Evening. The kids were so excited to go, especially since Daddy could come this time!

The kids had fun on the Hayride. They kept throwing hay at each other. Even Daddy was throwing some.

The kids also had fun feeding the goats and petting the animals in the petting zoo. Even Andrew got in on the act. He had fun playing with the goats.

It was a lot of fun!

Evan's Birthday

On Saturday, September 26th, we went to Evan Taylor's party. The 1st party was a friends party, and I helped Joanne out with some of the activities. The theme was Superman and the kids had fun building their "superhero muslces" with activites such as a bouncing house.

Later I picked up pizza's at Costco for the family party while Joanne hurried and cleaned up. Grandpa Kelly and Grandma Linda, Mike and his kids and Staci came to celebrate!

It's fun living so close to family and joining in all the celebrations. Larry had fun filling Mike and John in on the Journey Concert we went the night before.

Journey !

On September 25th, 2008, Larry and I journied in our Dodge Journey to the Journey Concert up in Wheatland (sacramento area). Larry's Co-worker, has a friend who is the head of security up at the Sleep Train Amphitheater, got us in for free. It is one of those outdoor ones like at Sundance. The stadium is only supposed to have 16,500 max capacity but somehow their ended up being over 18,000 there.

While looking for a spot on the grass to sit, we ran into a couple in our ward who happened to be there, so we sat with them. It was a lot of fun. Larry was excited to see and hear Arnell Pineda whose the new lead singer for Journey!

It was a great concert! The only difficult thing was trying to find our car afterwards! That was quite an adventure! Meagan did an awesome job babysitting for us too!

Springing into Junior High!

On August 13, Meagan got her big intro to her new Junior High. She and Kaitlyn got to check out their new school, SpringView Junior High home of the Eagles.

They went all around campus, and got to even try some of the food! They also found out that they divide the students into academies. Meagan is in the Meridian and Kaitlyn is in Discovery.

Shayla's Spa Party!

On July 22, 2008, Shayla threw a Spa Party for her friends to attend. They had fun doing manicures, pedicures, and facials.

It was a lot of fun and Shayla and her friends had a great time! After everyone left, mommy had a fun time and pampered herself to a facial, mannicure, and pedicure before cleaning up!

Shayla's Baptism

Shayla Nicole Twitchell was baptized an official member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on June 7th 2008, Shayla loved dressing up in her new baptism dress from Grandpa Luker.

She felt and looked like a princess! She was so excited to be baptized by her father Larry. John & Joanne gave wonderful talks on baptism and The Holy Ghost and Linda Taylor played the piano. Brother Wheeler welcomed her into the ward. Her favorite song to sing was When I am Baptized.

Afterwards, we invited everyone over for a yummy Lunch at our house !

Away We Go To Washington!

Over Memorial Weekend, we drove up to Tacoma Washington to visit. It was great to stay and visit with Suzee & Dick Boyd and Meagan had fun staying with Melanie at the Gifford's home. We went and visited Mason's grave and Andrew had fun playing with the cars and flowers.

That evening we went to Emily Jolley's Wedding reception and enjoyed visiting with all our old friends! We sure miss Washington!

It's Great To Be 8!

On May 16th Shayla turned 8! We had both a family party and friend party. Shayla and her friends had fun doing makeovers!

They enjoyed eating pizza and eating the "Better Than Anything Cake." They also had fun winning prizes at BINGO!

Andrew of course loved eating the cake! And more cake! CAKE CAKE CAKE!!!YUMMY YUM!

Texas:Here We Come!!!

Over the weekend of the 18th in April, Andrew and I had a fun adventure! We flew to Houston to visit my best sister in the whole world-Dorie Lynn! It was lots of fun and Andrew was great during the 9 hours of flying!

We had fun going to the mall! We had a yummy lunch and Ice cream and fruit smoothies! Dorie and I also went to the Movie Tavern and had a great dinner and Movie, and special thanks to Jed for watching our little ones so we could have time together!!!! Andrew loved playing with his cousins! Each morning he woke up ready to go find Jonah and Micah and play with their toys and watch Baby Einstein. But all the good times had to end and we headed back to Sacramento. Andrew was awesome on the long flight home too!

Jaden's Birthday

Jaden loved all his gifts! His favorite of course was Lego Star Wars, from Grandpa Luker.

We still have a hard time getting him off the XBox!

Golfland

In March we went to Golfland for a fun Family Easter Activity.

Jaden loves waterfalls and had lots of fun golfing with Dad's help.

He also loved riding in the go kart cars! He went with both mom and dad!

Andrew's First Birthday!!

I can't believe Andrew's first birthday is here! He's getting so big and we have just enjoyed him so much!!

Doesn't He have the dreamiest blue eyes? They sure make mom's heart go pitter patter with delight!

For breakfast I made a special treat , Spelt Smiley Faced Waffles with syrup, whipped cream and chocolate chips. YUM YUM!

On Sunday evening, we celebrated Andrew's birthday with my Uncle Kelly's. Andrew really enjoyed his chocolate cake!!! Didn't know what to think of blowing out candles though! And he loved all his new toys! It's so fun being with family!

Easter Memories

This was our first Easter here in Rocklin! On Saturday, March 22, our ward held an Easter Egg hunt and breakfast at the park just around the corner from our house.

Mommy and Meagan had fun helping Andrew find his eggs!

Jaden had lots of Fun hunting for his Eggs too! He was so excited because he found 10 eggs!

Shayla had lots of fun too!

Afterwards, Jaden and Shayla helped decorate the eggs for Easter. Easter Sunday was spent going to Church and then to Uncle Kelly's and Aunt Linda's house for a Yummy Easter Dinner.

The Wonderful World of Disney!

On February 18th, we packed our family in the mini-van and headed for our 1st ever family trip to DisneyLand. We stayed there from the 18th -22nd of February 2008. Luckily, Larry's work hadn't sent the minivan to the auction and we were able to take it. It had 2 dvd players and we were able to hook up the x-box and let Jaden play too. It made for a much easier journey!

We got in pretty late Monday night, but mananged to meet up with Wendy& Terry Gifford and they're family in time to watch the big firework display! I had bought each member of our family a Disney T'shirt and we wore them on Tuesday morning for a family picture in front of the Castle.

Jaden's favorite ride was Star Tours in Tommorow Land. He rode it over,and over again with Larry. He also loved watching the Jedi Training
and riding the Autotopia ride.

On Wednesday, we spent the day in California Adventure. Jaden had to stop by and check out the waterfall. He loves water falls.

Then we met up with the Gifford's and enjoyed a wonderfrul lunch. Meagan spent some time with Melanie going on various rides.

Meagan and I had fun spending the day together on Thursday, because Larry and Shayla were feeling sick. We had fun riding the Grizzly rapid raft ride together and got wet. Then we rode the new Indiana Jones ride. Afterwards we ran into Princess Jasmine and got her autograph.

Later we met up with Wendy and Melanie and had some fun Girl Time together. We rode Thunder Mountain, Sailed in the Pirates of the Carribean and of course Splash Mountain.

I got soaked on the Splash Mountain Ride. Luckily, my jacket protected the front of me. Meagan was wonderful and baby sat for us on Thursday Night and Larry and I came back and had our own date at DisneyLand. We did Soarin California, Space Mountain, Star Tours, Indiana Jones and Thuder Mountain. It was a blast.

On Friday, our last day (sniff sniff), Shayla and I ran and were able to get pictures with Mini Mouse and Donald Duck. Then we met up with Dad and the boys. We went to the Princess Fanatasy Faire where Shayla danced with the princesses. Then off to Toon Town we went and then Finally, Critter Land.

It was fun taking Andrew and Jaden on the Winnie the Pooh ride. Andrew loved watching all the flashing lights and songs inside the cave part. Afterwards, we visited the Pooh Corner Store. Daddy splurged and bought lots of goodies for us all.

Then it was time to say good-bye!!!!!!!!

Family Holiday Gatherings

In celebration of the season, we held a Christmas Eve party at our house. John, JoAnn, Kelly and Evan Taylor family and Kelly,Linda& StaceyTaylor, and Patrick and also Grandpa Twitchell attended. We had a yummy Ham Dinner and then followed up with a Nativity re-enactment.

Meagan was Mary and Baby Andrew was a bigger and sitting version of baby Jesus.

Shayla was the Angel bringing good Tidings of great Joy, and Patrick was Joseph.

Evan Taylor and Jaden Twitchell were the Shepherds, while John Taylor was our Narrator. Afterwards, we enjoyed singing lots of Christmas Carols until we were exhausted.

Twitchell Family Newsletter 2007

Wow, I can't believe it's December! This year our family has experienced a lot of change with the new addition of Andrew Glenn Twitchell to our family and with moving to Rocklin, California(near Sacramento).

Andrew: Our newest member, was born on March 29th, 2007! He is such a sweet, happy and calm boy. Everyone at church says they haven't seen him without a smile! His big accomplishment this year, next to being born, is learning to scoot and crawl backwards. Going forward he's hilarious and looks like an inch worm. First he gets on all fours and scoots his knees forward then he belly dives forward. He's very inquisitive and curious. He loves exploring everywhere and Mom is going to have her hands full once he starts walking!

Jaden: Is loving kindergarten! He's doing well and his teachers wish they had 20 students like him. They say he's always happy and kind to everyone. He loves playing computer and lately is big into Daddy's Xbox games. His favorites are Shrek and Lego star wars. He loves playing with Evan, my cousin's son. He had fun going to see the Nutcracker Ballet with his class and making gingerbread houses too.

Shayla: Is loving 2nd grade! She is reading at 3rd grade level and is doing awesome in all her schooling. She wants to be a fashion designer and currently loves making her designs on paper. I think she is using all of our paper! She loves her baby brother and can always get him to smile and laugh!! She has been such a wonderful helper to her mommy.

Meagan: Meagan is enjoying being a beehive in Young Women's and was in the Stake youth Christmas Choir. She beat the record for the AR Wordcount with reading over 2million words in one Trimester. As you can tell, she is our resident bookworm. She wants to be an author and has already began writing her first novel. It is called "Super Powered Kid." It's a cross between Sky High meets Harry Potter. She has already completed her 1st chapter.

Tami: Tami is enjoying being a Mommy! She is thoroughly enjoying little Andrew even when he keeps her up all night! She is also having fun teaching Shayla's CTR 7 class. Her kids think she's the best! She keeps busy with Andrew and the rest of the kids with all their activities. She is still unpacking!!

Larry: Larry was promoted to a Band 92 district manager position in the Sacramento California area. So once again, we packed everything up and moved to Rocklin, California. We also live less than a mile away from my cousin John and his wife Joann. It's fun being near family again. Larry and I also celebrated our 15th year anniversary by enjoying a weekend in Monterey, CA. Of course, we had to stop by the golf mecca known as Pebble Beach where we enjoyed a wonderful lunch overlooking the 18th hole.

We enjoyed our annual trip to Utah this past summer. We finally took the kids to Lagoon with Tim & Shalyn. It was a fun trip. This year we look forward to taking the kids to Disneyland. We miss you all and hope you have a wonderful Holiday Season!

Thanksgiving

Well, I have finally done it. I am a blogger. My sister and Aunt convinced me its a great way to journal our family history. I thought I would start with this past Thanksgiving. We are new here to Rocklin California but are enjoying all the nice sunshine. My cousin John and his wife Joann convinced us to move here and its been fun being near family. For Thanksgiving, we went to my Uncle Kelly and Aunt Linda's house. I brought the Turkey, gravy, stuffing and sweet potatoes and pecan pie, Joann did lot and so did Linda. Even John made dirty rice which was wonderful. It was so fun! It was cute watching Andrew play with everyone and give big smiles and grins!

This is my first post so hopefully I'll improve as I go. Because this was Andrew's 1st Thanksgiving, most of the pictures are of him. I love the little video clip too.

After the wonderful meal, Jenny and Ashley did the majority of the clean up, the kids either xboxed or played together, and JoAnn and I plotted our shop till we drop day for the next day.

Crazy enough, we got up at 4:30 am and shopped and shopped and shopped!!! It was a lot of fun going together.
